Ube is a yam that is native to the Philippines. It is a root, starchy vegetable that is dark and rough in texture on the outside, however when you cut it open, it has a beautiful purple and mauve color. It has a mild nutty taste and it is a very popular ingredient found in many Filipino breads, desserts, jams etc. Filipinos take great pride in this native vegetable. Today it is grown in many other countries around the world.
I have loved Ube since I was a child and I would like to share my love for this flavour with all of you.
